Correct formula for date based reporting function needed..

    Good morning again,

The sheet in question is a record keeping sheet that does the following:
End users input daily metrics onto a "cover sheet".(COVER SHEET TAB)
Those cover sheet numbers are then combined onto another tab, which tallies the total number for each metric (DAILY TAB)
A 3rd tab is a monthly breakdown, by day, which takes the numbers from the daily tab, but has every business day of the month on it. Currently I pull the numbers from the DAILY TAB to the MONTHLY TAB using this formula:
=IF(Q$2=Daily!$B$1,Daily!$B9) with Q2 being the date im looking for, and DAILY B1 being todays date, and DAILY b9 being the metric I want to inport.
All of this works well and good, but right now as part of the end of dat process, I go into the workbook, highlight that days final numbers on the MONTHLY TAB, and just copy - Paste values, so that the next day, when the sheet is opened, it won't lose the date (due to it all being date driven)

Any suggestions on how to eliminate that copy+paste issue? I know a macro is an option, but its not really much more time saving then the current process, or at least the macro I have in mind isn't it.

Thanks in advanced and sorry for the long winded posts.
