Office 2007 Freeze Panel & Comments

I have many frozen panels with comments but hovering over does not display the comment. I have to edit to see the actual comment. Any ideas on how to fix this?

    Thank You,
    Todd

Check to make sure the option to display comments on cell hover is selected in Excel options.
    1. Click Office button and choose Excel Options at lower right
    2. Click on "Advanced" in the left pane
    3. Under the section titled "Display" check to see that the option to show comments on hover is selected.

    Thank you for replying Palmetto,

Comment hover does work outside of frozen panels and is checked under advanced/display. When I freeze col A and it has comments the hover no longer works.

I believe this is not just me. Could you try it on yours?

    Thank You,
    Todd

Re: Office 2007 Freeze Panel & Comments

The problem stems from the fact that when freeze panes is used, as you scroll to the right and columns become hidden Excel will not display the comment box for cells in the "left" pane.

I don't see any way around this other than to use some VBA to populate a message box with the text from the comment box when Freeze Panes is applied.

Re: Office 2007 Freeze Panel & Comments

    Good evening

I also have problem with this limitation. I have created comments to some cells on the top of my worksheet, as a guidance to what I shall fill in there later. When I use freeze panes to lock the first row in position, I only get the comments headline when I scroll down my worksheet, as described earlier in this thread.

I grateful for any help to solve this problem, either by a workaround, by a macro or whatever is needed to eliminate the problem.
