    Hitting Enter after Tab

I'm in Excel 2003. When I tab from A1 to F1 and hit enter excel puts me in cell A2. I would like to tab from A1 to F1, hit enter and end up in F2. Is this possible?

I've tried the Tools / Options / Edit / Move selection after Enter [Down] to no avail.

    Thanks,

No, but the down arrow is often right by the Enter key, just a suggestion.

Sounds like you have selected a range and you want to move to the cell adjacent to the last cell in your range. Is that right? You could do that with a macro and a shortcut key or you could use this shortcut to speed things up.

CNTRL + . This shortcut moves you between the corners of your range. In the case of a single row or column, beginning and end of range. From there, use the right arrow to move over 1 cell.

    Did that help?

    Re: Hitting Enter after Tab

Excel's propensity for watching what you're doing is usually helpful. If you pick a cell and from that point TAB to the right several columns then press ENTER, Excel returns you to the first column you started pressing TAB. It's usually good.

But in this case, he wants to move left by tab and then go directly down by pressing ENTER. I don't think you'll be able to inhibit this builtin "helpfulness" without some sort of VBA assistance, as Chemist B has suggested as a route.

    Is it worth that much?
