Locking cells / copy and pasting drop down lists

Hi,

I’ve got a worksheet with a couple of columns which have drop down lists on them. Occasionally the user might need to copy and paste the column nearby in the same document.

The problem I have is this: When the sheet is unlocked the newly pasted column keeps all the drop down lists, but if I protect the sheet the copy and pasted column has all the drop down lists removed from its cells. I’ve fiddled around but can only seem to solve it by leaving the sheet unlocked, which I would rather avoid.

Is this something that’s unavoidable due to locking the sheet, or am I missing something when allowing/not allowing certain permissions to the user when the sheet is locked?
