Microsoft Query from Access to Excel formatting issue

Hi all, not sure if this is a MS-Query issue, Access DB, or XL. Anyway, I have an access DB holding text values in the format 123456-12-12. When I do my MS Query, it seems to be taking out the dashes, even though they're stored with dashes in the database table. So when I pull info into XL through MS query there's no dashes, but I'd really like to keep the dashes! Any help is much appreciated.

Check that your Access table field doesn't have a data type of Number with special formatting to make the dashes appear...
