im trying to do a main worksheet on excel 2007.
this sheet would take data from the rest of the sheets (5 of them in the same workbook) and sum them up. eg.
it will show "total files", "total size" .. how do i make this happen?

In the cell where you want the value, just click "=", then go to the first cell you want in the formula, click on it, then "+", go to the next cell on the next tab, click on it, then "+" again, etc...
For example, on Sheet 1, cell A1, I want to add the values of Sheet2 cell A1 and Sheet 3 cell A1.
