Exclamation 2003 excel program incompatible with 2007

    Hi There,

My work has built an excel program for our rostering system. This was built for excel 97-2003. I have installed the program on 1 of my laptops which runs vista, it works ok on this. I have also installed it on this laptop (which i want to use for work only), which has office 2007. This program is stored directly on my c drive, I have then made a shortcut to my desktop. I have followed the installation instructions correctly, but when I put in my password to access the rosters it comes up with an error " Compile error in hidden module: Menu_module then has 2 prompts under 1 for ok 1 for help now when I click ok it goes into my roster system where I can select the week I want to view and it says the same thing. I am not very savvy with computers and I really hope someone can help.

    Thanks In Advance

    Hi,

program? Do you mean an Excel file with macros? I'm having problems understanding your description because you don't use any punctuation in the last part and it's hard to tell where a sentence ends and the next one starts.

Can you provide the complete error message (and indicate where it ends?)

Does the workbook/addin require a reference to a library that you do not have installed?

For example the workbook may use a calendar control that you do not have installed.

With the VB project unlocked, with the correct password, you could check for missing references in the VBE.
    Cheers

    Hi There,

I have the actual workbook stored on the C Drive as per my setup instructions, I have then created a shortcut on the desktop. I double click this icon, it will open my workbook, yes this is an excel workbook with macros, as when i open the workbook I am prompted to enable macros. I have some options to click into, there are 2 active buttons which will each take me into a 6 week period of rosters. Book A and Book B. Once I click Book A for instance I am then prompted for my password to access.Once the password is entered I get the following message. "Compile error in hidden module: Menu_module". I can click ok and this will then take me to the next screen, I then have 6 active buttons which each have a week of rosters on them, along with other active buttons, so despite the error message it will allow me to pass this screen and enter the screen I clicked into. When I click on one of the weeks of rosters, I get the exact same error message, but the difference here is once I click "ok" it will not take me any further. I cannot access any other worksheets which are contained in this system. There are many cells which are inactive and also some which cannot be altered and there are cells which are "buttons" to enter different parts of the workbook.
Im sorry if I seem daft but as explained earlier i am not savvy with computers. Andy are you able to give me advice on how to check what you suggested? It wasn't supposed to be this hard, just store on C drive, unprotect sheet with password given to us so I am able to change the password for opening worksheet and away we go, this is what happened on my vista laptop, but 07, not so easy.
Thank you kindly for the help.

You need the password for the VBA project.

Open the workbook without enabling macros.
ALT+F11 to goto the VBE (visual basic editor)
You need to select the project and check via the menu
    Tools > References
    for any missing references.

If you can not access the vbproject you will need to go back to the developer of the addin/workbook.

Thank you so much I did as said, it did open up that screen, there are heaps of options there. I guess I will do the same on my other laptop where this workbook works and cross check what options are checked off on it compared to not working computer. Is that right? Will there need to be a difference as the laptop where the workbook opens up, runs off vista and this on 2007?
    I cant thank you enough.
