=If (forumla) = colour fill cell

    Hey...... first post here.

Let me start by saying how much I have learnt already whilst simply looking for a solution to my own problem!!!!

    Okay.... here's where I'm at.

I have two dates lets call them cells A1 and A2. I then have another cell that caluclates the difference in these dates into a simple number (ie not another date) - A3.

I need one of two things.

Ideally I want the whole cell (A3) to appear as a Green (fill) cell if the value is below 5, appear Orange if beween 6 and 9 and appear as red if its 10 or over.

I do not know if you can colour a cell that has a formula in already. So what follows is my current 'work around', which, if you can not colour the A3 cell, then I would need this cell coloured (A4).

    =IF(D12>7,"Urgent Attention",IF(D12<5,"New",""))

Please ignore the values in the above formula as I was just testing things out.

    thanks in advance.

Click cell A3 and the go to Format-> Conditional Formatting.
You can then set the parameters you need in there

    Go to Format|Conditional Formatting

Cell Value Is Greater than or Equal to =10 click Foramt and choose REd

    Click Add

Cell Value is Greater than or equal to =6 click Format and choose Orange

    Click Add

    Hey guys,

wow.... thanks for a really quick response.

One more question though.... far simpler this time.... where do I find 'Go to Format|Conditional Formatting'?

I am new to 2007 and love it, but still working out the menu's!

In the Home Tab.. there will be A Conditional Formatting Button, Click And select Manage Rules... then Click New Rule and then Format only cells that contain...

Instead of Add.. you will click New Rule after selecting a format...

Note: You should update your profile to reflect you using 2007 instead of 2003.

    Hey,

Yeah... sorry about that. I did originaly select it when setting up my account, but i missed to many other things out each time, it reset that point! Still, all done now.

I have found the formating part. I have managed to get it working with the traffic light setting, though I couldnt work out the Highlight cell part.
