a drop down list that influences another cell

hi,

i'm trying to create 2 cells where if cell A has a value of 0 then the other will be blank until a value is typed in. then if the value in cell A is changed to 2 the value of cell B will go back to 0 until a new value is typed in. also i want to have it store the typed in values of cell B so that if you go back and change cell A to 0 the typed in value for cell B will reappear.
I have no problem setting up the first drop down list but from there i have no idea how to make the second cell dependent on the first and not lose information when updating.

Hi,

in Excel, a cell is either a data entry cell, where you manually enter something, or it calculates a value based on a formula that may take information from other cells. You can't have both. If you want B to be a data entry cell, then that data will stay there. You won't be able to create a worksheet function that blanks B after A changes.

Something like this could only be achieved with VBA.

Maybe you want to post a small data sample and explain what you're trying to do. There may be other ways of achieving it, but it's hard to tell without seeing your data.
