    Creating 'rich' footers

    Hello.

My question is, is there a way to create a somehow 'rich' footer. This image below is what I am talking about:

    \1

where the number on the right is the page number.

I currently have it normally in my worksheet as in within cells at the bottom of the page, but it's hard to keep the same distance from the bottom-right of the page for each for all worksheet.

    Thanks

    Hi,

Why not just go to the footer (View Headers & Footers) and choose the Insert Picture option?

Because I have to make a picture for every page I guess, or no?

You can colour, bold, underline and size text etc nothing else really

Other fix i can thing of is to add your design in the top few row, and change the page set up to cover this ie look like a header. Your need to add the so called fake header to each sheet so thats a down side

    Just an idea

    Hi,

You seem to be saying that you want a picture which contains a page number, but appear not to want to create one for each page. The page 'number' in your picture is just part and parcel of the picture and not something you can change without loading a new picture.

If you insist on the picture containing the number then given your comments, you can't achieve your aim.

But don't forget the footer contains its own functionality to add the page number. Admittedly it's not a 'picture' but you could add a generic picture without a number and then include the footer's page number.

    Re: Creating 'rich' footers

Thank you all for your replies. I will look into fake header, first time I hear this.

Richard, I am not trying to put a picture that has its content changed, sorry if I came out to seem as such. What I gave is a picture of my desired result, something that I can not achieve because Excel footer functionality does not allow me to put 2 columns of stuff, or increase the font-size, put background color on some, etc. That's why I am asking if there is a workaround on that. I could put the footer I want into cells but they will not come at the same height for each page since there is no ruler as well to measure height (I really do not want to add up the height of all my rows for each worksheet!). I understand I might be asking something a bit uncommon, with probably no answer...I just thought to give it a shot on this forum and hope for feedback from people that know better than me.

    Hi,

Are you confusing the term footer? Your comment about putting a footer in cells suggests as much.

Headers and footers always appear at the top or bottom of every page and have nothing to do with the number of rows/cells that are actually on a page.

Take a look at File, Page Setup, Header/Footer tab and Click the 'Custom Footer option. Now play around with inserting whatever you want, page numbers, date, time, pictures etc in one or more of the three sections, left, middle or right.

    Re: Creating 'rich' footers

why am I unable to pass my message through?

I know how to use Excel's headers/footers, but by limitations of technology I am unable to create the footer the way I show it in the image I linked. That kind of footer I can only create if I insert it in normal cells, but if I do that again by limitations of technology I am unable to align the footer at the same height on all pages.

    Hi,

We seem to be going round in circles.

Why can't you insert the jpg image in the footer of your sheet? As I said you don't need to insert it on the face of the sheet in cells. There is no concept of having to align the footer. It always appears at the foot of the page whatever the size of the rows.

I will go do that right after I recover from jumping off a cliff. Thank you Richard.
