    Scrollable Limits

My office uses an Excel spreadsheet for logging new documents. Everyone has access, and new lines are added every day.

Excel normally adjusts the scroll range to the data limit, and changes the range whenever new data is added. But on this spreadsheet the scroll range is all available lines--if you drag the scroll bar to its bottom, the spreadsheet shows line 65536.

Others on this forum have suggested macros to limit the scrollable range. I don't want to fix the limits--this is a working data log--but to make it auto-limit as it's supposed to. Any suggestions?

Check if row 65536 or above has active cells.

Hit End and Home right after each other. This should take you to the last active cell in the sheet. Where do you end up?

If you are sure there is no data below the actual data entry table, delete all rows below like this:

    - select the first empty row beneath the data table by clicking the row number
    - hit Ctrl-Shift-down arrow to select all rows below.
    - right click and select Delete

next, delete all columns to the right of the data table

    - select the first empty colomn to the right of the data table by clicking the column header
    - hit Ctrl-Shift-right arrow to select all columns to the right
    - right click and select Delete

now save the workbook and close it.
re-open the workbook and check if the scroll bar has changed.
