    Smile Elapsed Days, Hours, Minutes

I have four columns (A, B, C, D) as shown below. How do a calculate the total elapsed days/hours/minutes from the Begin Date/Time to End Date/Time?

Begin Date Begin Time End Date End Time
    11/5/2009 3:42:32 PM 11/10/2009 3:53:31 PM

    Thanks again!

With your sample data in cells A1:D2

    In the above example,
    cell E2 returns: 5 days 00:10:59
    or
    cell E2 returns: 5 days 00 hrs 10 min 59 sec
(depending on which formula you use.)

I wish the results could be numeric...but Excel doesn't like to mix elapsed days with time values. (Anyway, I haven't seen it done)

    Does that help?

    Re: Elapsed Days, Hours, Minutes

Why not just use a custom format of d" days, "h" hours, "m" minutes, "s" seconds" or d" days, "h:mm:ss?

*Edit: Nevermind. My idea will work if you'll never have more than 31 days differential. If you do, use Ron's idea.
