How to add a row collapser and expander

I just saw a sample spreadsheet that had a grey colum to the left of the row numbers. In this area is a "+" symbol that when clicked unhides the rows that are hidden starting with the row directly to the right of this "+" sign. After it unhides these rows, there is a "-" sign to the left of the last unhidden row. If you click the "-" sign, the rows will, once again, be hidden. Anyone know how this is done?

That is called Grouping... found in Data|Group and Outline

Data| Subtotals will also add these if your are subtotalling in groups.
Where there is a will there are many ways.
