    Chart source doesn't like my range names

    I've got some range names built from offsets, e.g.:

    =OFFSET(BASISNODE,1,8,num_schools,1)

    where BASISNODE is my starting point and num_schools tells me how much data to include.

    When I enter these into the chart data source, it rejects them as having a problem in the formula.

    Am I doing something stupid?

    Thanks

    When you enter the named range in the chart dialog, you'll need to precede it with a valid sheet reference.

    eg =Sheet1!Named_Range
    Rule 1: Never merge cells
    Rule 2: See rule 1

    Solved!

    Many thanks ... I knew it was something dopey like that. What's the point of workbook-wide range names if you still have to give it a sheet .... ahh, there's no understanding the quirks of Excel.

    Thanks again,
    JB
