Excel 2007 : Pivot Table Calculations

I am having a problem and I would greatly appreciate any thoughts or suggestions


The results of the pivot table I create lists each staff..underneath it lists the performace level..underneath that it lists each student who achieved that performance level...

I need the pivot table to return the following for me and I can't seem to get it to work...

I want it to calculate the total number of students who achieved a "3" or "4" performance level. Then I want it to divide it by the the total number of students they have.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

How about:
=(countif(<cells with grades in>,3)+countif(<cells with grades in>,4))/<cell with total number of students in>

or you could create a calculated field in the pivot, but this wouldn't really gain you anything.

Perhaps post an example for more specific help.

I have attached a word file that contains a picture of the excel file. I had to create a "fake" one b/c of confidentiallity issues.

A few notes...it is a pivot table (its typed b/c I can't send the real data)

-I need to be able to coundt the total number of students who received a 3 or 4 and divide it by the total number of student they have (ie the number of students who scored a 1,2,3 or 4)

-this needs to be done for over 100 staff members (hopefully automatically through the use of the pivot table)
