    Excel File Corruption

    hi,

    I had the following scenario.

    A user clicks on a specific excel 2007 file and gets a blank Excel, all the toolbars are greyed out and she doesn't get the new white worksheet for this file. Other files open fine. The file opens on another pc without problems the first time it opens, but eventually reverts to this behaviour.

    I've tried the advanced options, general, "ignore other applications that use dde...", but no luck. I've also tried a repair in Exce to no avail.

    Unfortunately no backup...

    I've also tried:

    When it happens - press alt-f11 to go into CBA
    press ctrl-G to open your "immediate" window

    then try typing these two lines in there

    Application.Visible = True
    Application.ScreenUpdating = True

    Still no luck.

    What I've reverted to doing is within the workbook do a find and replace on '=' to $$!! then copy worksheets to a new workbook and then within my new workbook and old corrupt file do the replace in reverse (all 27000 formulas)

    this seems to have worked for the time being, but I have no idea whether this behavious will revert itself.

    Any advice on how to genuinely repair this file is much appreciated.

    thanks

    Re: Excel File Corruption

    Even if you back up your Excel workbooks, corruption can still be a problem.
    Fortunately, Excel automatically starts recovery upon opening a corrupted Excel file. But, if it fails, you can manually repair the file or extract data from the corrupt file. You can try 'open and repair' to repair the file. If it won't work then, check this reference: https://www.stellarinfo.com/article/...er-opening.php
