Excel 2003 - Unwanted date change when copying from cell to cell

Hi all. I'm fairly new to excel so still learning things. The problem i have is that when i copy and paste a range of cells with a date in it, the date changes automatically from the UK standard to the US standard (example: Changes from 06/01/2009 to 01/06/2009). I've tried formatting the range of cells into the correct category, type and locale, without any success - it still changes when i copy and paste. Hope you can help, thanks, David

Check regional settings of your computer (Start -> Control panel -> Regional settings) and put them to UK instead of US

I think that it picks the default format from your windows locale settings. Have you tried changing that in control panel?
    Rule 1: Never merge cells
    Rule 2: See rule 1

Hi. Thanks for the help. Tried what you guys suggested. Went into 'control panel' on start menu, and went into 'regional & language options'. Regional options showed that i was already marked as English (United Kingdom). reset it just in case but the problems still there. Any other ideas?
    Thanks
