Units in Scale tab of Format Axis for charts

I've established by trial and error, (inconsistently) that the Major Unit (for the x-axis)
determines the intervals between the ticks on the x-axis. Base Units determines
the interval between plotted points, but the significance of Minor Units eludes
me; morevover, ticks in the check boxes for the (3) Units seem to make no
difference. Can someone clear up my befuddlement please ? HELP can't

What chart type are you using?

Can you post example file.

Just to comply quickly with your request, I have copied only the relevant data into a new spreadsheet, and beside that, have COPIED a chart from that data in the other spreadsheet.
SO THIS GRAPH IS NOT GENERATED IN THIS SHEET FROM THE SHOWN DATA.
I did that because I found it would be a lot of work to recreate a chart in THIS spreadsheet, that has the features I desire. I hope it will not frustrate the inquiry. If it does, then I'll have to try and generate a chart for you.

PS. The original did not have a multicoloured trace. Dont know how or why that happened.

PSS. In the finished post I can not see any indication of my attachment - I hope you can.
