Unhappy Repeat information on multiple pages?

    Hi

I recently undertook an excel based knowledge test and whilst I haven't been informed of the answers/scores yet I have been frustrated with my inability to find the answer to what seemed like a simple question on the test....

Q: Without using copy and paste, put A1:H11 and its associated formulas and formats onto all 7 worksheets within the workbook.

Bearing in mind all questions on the test generally used only a few keystrokes, I felt fairly stumped and with copy and paste excluded from the options I am convinced I answered incorrectly. But the worst of it is I left fairly contently from the test and thinking I would get home and satisfy myself with the answer outlining a simple oversight on my part, have been shocked that I've been unable able to find one anywhere, is anybody able to put me out of my misery here as it's beginning to really bug me!

I have hurriedly put together what I can remember of the spreadsheet to assist if anybody can help.

Select all sheet tabs and then re-enter data on first worksheet.

Andy, Thanks for that....I can't believe I've never seen that before! I guess I've just never needed to.

I am wondering whilst that obviously works whether that was the answer they were looking for as the worksheet was already provided as per my attachment and if it fell into line with other questions, no data would need to be entered?

The problem was that on the test you couldn't play around so if you hit what presumably was the wrong keystroke it would pop up a label asking if that was your final answer!

It's possible the instruction was do not use copy and paste on each sheet.
You could copy the first sheet, then Select second, group select to end and then paste once.

If you manage to find the tests 'prefered' method please post it, be interesting to see.

I reckon the second option is probably what they were after. The question was specific as far as the range was concerned and therefore copying the page itself didn't appear to be an option. You also couldn't move through the worksheets.

Perhaps to copy the cells, do as you offered in your first answer and then paste effectively over the top of what was initially copied from? Does that make sense?

I'll be getting the results of the test on Tuesday, if they do tell me what they were after I'll post it!

Many thanks once again for your help.

Excel won't let me do what I suggested....lol....but I guess you already knew that! ha ha... I should check my proposed solutions before typing my replies (lesson learnt).

If I do ever need this function I think with forethought of what is required that your initial solution is the best (and works!).... as to what was required in the test I'm simply at a loss and look forward nervously to finding out what the required answer was.

I have this horrible and overwhelming feeling that it will be something very very simple....but I won't close the post yet just in case there's a revelation and I need to post it.

You don't need to re-enter the data to get it onto the other sheets. Just select all sheets, as Andy suggested, select the cell you want to have on all sheets, hit F2 and Enter

Wow, thanks...I think I must have misread Andy's first reply! I got the results and they were good, one other stupid error possibly from rushing the test but apart from the one discussed, all was correct. I must be learning!! lol...

They couldn't answer at the office what the correct answer was but I now know from you 2 for the future.

    Thanks to you both

    Simon
