    Question Count Repeat Names

I have a spreadsheet with a list of names that missed an appointment throughout a time period. 'Column B' is the names. I want 'Column D' to show the number of times the patient missed an appointment. Does some know the easiest way to do this? I would like for it to ignore the space after the comma between last, first name in case someone accidentally forgets to add the space if possible.

I attached a template of what I need.

Thanks for any help in the right direction

Based on your sample workbook, enter (or copy and paste) the following formula into cell D3 and copy down to cell D36:

    Re: Count Repeat Names

For dealing with names that lack a space, you can use =SUMPRODUCT(--(SUBSTITUTE(B$3:B$36," ","")=SUBSTITUTE(B3," ","")))

    Re: Count Repeat Names

I added the formula and created more balnk rows to add to. How do I just get it to add a zero to the blank rows (instead of the number 6) in my example attached?

    That would leave it blank.
