Excel 2007 : Calculate greatest difference between two values and one fixed value

    Calculate greatest difference between two values and one fixed value

    I have 3 values: A, B, C

    I would like excel to find the difference between a fixed value (A) and the other two values (B and C) and return the highest difference to me.

    So if like B-A > C-A then return B-A.

    Was wondering if there is such function for this kind of analysis?

    Hi Lemon,

    In the future please create a thread title descriptive of your problem, for example "calculate greatest difference between two values and one fixed value".

    In this case, try:

    =MAX(B-A,C-A)

    if your applying this formula to diferent sets of numbers, where A B and C are different number, where A may be higher than B or C, you may want to include the Absolute Value.
