    Probability Question:closely correlated data

I have two closely correlated data sets (correlation coefficient 0.68), and I want to set up a probability calculation: If the value in one set is less than a certain number, what is the probability that the value in the other set is less than a certain number?

    How do I do this?

    Many thanks -

    Hi,

I don't understand the basic question. What do you mean by 'the value in one set'? What Value?

OK, so I have two data sets that describe the same thing using different analytical approaches. One set ranges from 0 to 4. The other set ranges from 0 to 76,000. I want to know the probability that if set 1's value is less than 2, set 2's value will be less than 18,000. How do I set this query up?

    Hi,

I don't see how we can answer this question without understanding what is contained in the two data sets and more importantly what you mean by values of 2 and 18000. i.e. what's the relationship between each sets range of values and the 2 & 18000. For instance is the set 1 value of 2 a mean, standard deviation, median, mode or some other statistical representative value?
