SUMPRODUCT to SUM variable range in closed workbook

    Hi guys & girls,

I have a closed workbook with data in 12 columns. I have an other workbook where I choose a column and the formula needs to return the sum of the data from column 1 to the chosen column, in a given row.
I can't use INDIRECT or SUMIF because of the closed workbook, so I'll probably need a formula using sumproduct, but I can't find a solution on the net...

    Any feedback would be welcome.

P.S.: all I need is a solution on row-level, so no arrays necessary...

Re: SUMPRODUCT to SUM variable range in closed workbook

It would help if you specified ranges...

If we assume you wish to sum from B2 to ?2 in a closed file where ? is determined by a value say in A1 of current sheet (eg A1 = 4 then B2:E2 etc...) then:

    Does that help ?
