    pivot table differences

    Hi,

For work, I use pivot tables to summarize transactions on several accounts.

In the data sheet all account balances are in one column, and in the other columns are the dates and year of the transactions.

What I do now for comparing account balances of 2008 and 2009, is adding in the data area the accountbalance field, and in the column-label area the year field. In this way, I get in the data field two columns for 2008 and 2009. This works fine.

But now I would like to compare the balances between 2008 and 2009.

I hoped it was possible by adding a calculated field or so, but that only seems tow work when you compare different culumns in your data.

Does anyone has an idea how to do this?

    Thanks in advance.

    Kind regards,

    Dirk.

In the Pivot table, right click inside the data region.
Value Field Settings: Show Values As:
    Select "Differerence From" and (previous)

I've already tried this but it doesn't seem to work. I guess it is only possible to compare numbers form different data fields.
