Possible to query for a specific number in rows?

I need to extract numbers from multiple different columns/rows to count for frequency?

IE, basically lets say I have 3 different columns and 100 different rows... I want to essentially query all the rows/columns to find out how many times the specific number "14" appears in these 3 columns. Is there a way to do that?

    Does that make sense?

=COUNTIF(A1:C100,14) would count number of times14 appeared in that range
if you have non adjacent columns
    =COUNTIF(A1:a100,14)+COUNTIF(d1:d100,14)+COUNTIF(z1:z100,14)
