Convert a day date to a year

Hi all,

..had a prblem recently which was resolverd regading making a series of "day" dates into a month...now have the same problem with years!

I have a spreadsheet with "standard" date entry..ie dd/mm/yy. But I want to creat a column that will just show a year.

ie I know that I can format it by "yyyy", but I only want the cell info to give me the same "day" for each year.

eg
01/03/09 = 01/01/09 = 2009
04/06/09 = 01/01/09 = 2009

any help gratefully received.....
