[solved] unable to create any wookbook links

I was attempting to create a new workbook today with links to another and I am unable to create any links. When I create a formula in one book and click on the cell in the other, no link is created.
Any ideas?

hi Simpson,

Are your two workbooks running in the same "instance" of Excel?
(Edit: the files are in the same instance if you can see them both listed under the Window menu in Excel, or use [ctrl + Tab] to change from one to the other)
If the files are in different instances of Excel, you can't create a link using the point & click technique.
