    Spreading marks in different cell

I am trying to work out school results on spreadsheet. 'Pass' and 'Fail' results are done. Now I have to work out how to spread grace marks. For example, if student A passed 3 papers out of 7 and failed other 4. Pass mark is 32. He got 27 on Paper I, 25 on paper II, 28 on Paper III and 30 on Paper IV. Student A needs 18 grace mark spread over, so he'll pass the exam. How do I make the spreadsheet do this? Thanks..

To best describe or illustrate your problem you would be better off attaching a dummy workbook, the workbook should contain the same structure and some dummy data of the same type as the type you have in your real workbook - so, if a cell contains numbers & letters in this format abc-123 then that should be reflected in the dummy workbook.

If needed supply a before and after sheet in the workbook so the person helping you can see what you are trying to achieve.

Doing this will ensure you get the result you need!
