    Question How to do conditional formating of abs number vs integer?

    Hi,

    I have the following problem.

    A1= B1+B2 = 1
    A2 = B2 + B3 = -2

    If ABS(A2)>A1, A2 text will turn red.

    I tried using conditional formula to do something like =IF(ABS(A2)>A1), change Font colour to red. but it didn;t work...

    Try just =ABS(A2)>A1

    Lewis, one way to fine tune a conditional formatting formula is to copy it in a cell. If the cell returns either TRUE or FALSE, the this formula will work for conditional formatting. In most cases you don't need IF() statements, just the condition part that you would put in an IF statement.

    Hi sorry, the font did turn red but A1 is greater than A2. I tried Formula and cell style.

    Follow my advice and put the formula into a cell. What does it return?

    Check your values.

    The formatting needs to be set up with Formula Is. Check your formatting, too!

    If you still feel that this is not calculating correctly, post a workbook
