Viewing comments while cell protected

Hi

I have a spreadsheet with comments added to the column titles to enable the user to understand what the column is calculating. (the comments are added by right clicking on the cell and selecting Insert Comment)

As certain columns contain formulas I have protected them, however this then stops the comments popping up when the pointer is hovering over the cell.

I have 'Googled' methods but none of them seem to work. Can anybody help as it's driving me insane!

I just tested this on my excel2003 and the comments appear even when the sheet is protected.
Could you upload a dummy WB in order to see the problem.

Here is a version of my file.

I checked your example with Excel 2002 and 2003 ( 2 different computers)
The comments in row 6 will popup when i'm over the cell.
ie : cell A6 gives me a comment : "Non Active = ***"
I can see comments in colums A , O , R , V , Z
Cannot figure out what the problem could be.

OK, thank. I am not sure why the comments are not showing, but I will keep trying to find the problem.

I just checked the Options form.
Menu - Tools - Option.
There is a tab called "view" where you have on the second line "Comments".
Is this checked as "none" ?
This could be the problem.
You can add comments with the rightmouse click , but they won't show when the option "none" is selected.
Perhaps this solves your problem.
