Due to an upgrade my employer did remotely I lost all of my Office Settings (toolbars mainly). (Office/Excel 2003)

I had not done a settings backup file (.OPS) since last August but it was better than nothing so I used it in the Restore Settings Wizard.

However, I didn't think that the Restore My Settings would affect the content of my Personal.xls file where I have a ton of Macros.

When I went back in after the restore to put back buttons on my toolbar that I had added since my last backup, I couldn't find the newer macros to go on them.

Does the .OPS file (which was about 15MB for me) actually backup a copy of the Personal.xls (818K) during SAVE SETTINGS and replace the current Personal.xls with the older one? That's insane. Sure I should have backed up my Personal.xls more recently but I just assumed the RESTORE SETTINGS would not overwrite a new version of Personal.xls with an old one.

Does anyone know if this is for sure the case. If so, I will be sure to backup the current personal.xls and dump it back into the XLSTART folder after I run the RESTORE. Thanks
