removing the icon from an embedded file

I have embedded several files in a workbook and would like to remove the icon that shows for the embedded file and replace it with something that looks like a hyperlink. So far from what I have found, it is not possible to do this... does anyone know how to do this?

Delete the embedded file icon and insert a hyperlink instead.

These are two different animals. An embedded file is placed and contained within the current file. A hyperlink only links to another place, file, internet address, whatever.

Are you sure you have an "embedded" file, or do you have a link?

I have embedded files that need to be portable with the document. I understand the difference, I am looking for aesthetic changes only.

You can change the icon and you can change the caption, but it won't ever look like a hyperlink.
