    Data validation for multiplier values

I have a column on a cost estimating spreadsheet where I want to limit the user entered quantities to multiples of 3 only (particular product is only available in sets of 3 most times). How can I use the data validation function to limit this range to multiples of 3 (short of creating a column with 3,6,9,12,15,18,etc in it and validating from that)?

If A1 is the cell of concern, then apply Data Validation: Custom: with formula: =MOD(A1,3)=0
Where there is a will there are many ways.
