# Help with nested Excel formula returning "FALSE" result

1. ## Help with nested Excel formula returning "FALSE" result

Can someone tell me how to fix the following formula? I get "False" result if the value in cell B5 is greater than 999. Thanks!

=IF(B5<251,(B5*12)),IF(B5<1001,3000+(B5-250)*8.75),IF(B5>1001,B5<4999,9562.5+(B5-1000*4.25)),IF(B5>5000,26562.5+(B5-5000)*2.88)

4. ## Re: Help with nested Excel formula returning "FALSE" result

Thank you for the suggestion; however, when I enter that formula, if cell B5 equals 1082, the result is 6394.50 & it should be 9911.00. Any ideas?

5. ## Re: Help with nested Excel formula returning "FALSE" result

Because 1082, falls into the third category of being between 1000 and 5000

and the result for that is : 9562.5+(B5-1000*4.25) based on your formula....

so 9562.5+(1082-1000*4.25)
=9562.5+(1082-4250)
=9562.5+(-3168)
=6394.5

Maybe the formula should be:

=IF(B5<251,(B5*12),IF(B5<1001,3000+(B5-250)*8.75,IF(B5<5000,9562.5+(B5-1000)*4.25,26562.5+(B5-5000)*2.88)))
