I was wondering if there was a way to count the number of cells that have a specific background colour, half were done manually and the other half were done via conditional formatting. Also I have tried to do it with VBA but the screen to type the codes in is not coming up so if someone could help me with that issue that would be great too.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Alt+F11 opens the VBE.
It's not trivial to determine the results of conditional formatting via VBA.
It would be easier if you used conditional formatting uniformly, and moved the conditional formatting formula to a separate column. Then you can just count the results that cause the cells to be colored.
