Formula Length Longer than 8192 characters?

    Hi,

I hope someone can help me with this.

I have created an excel workbook which is to be sent out to the company to track their activity for the week.

When I go to share the work book the following error message pops up:

"One or more formulas in this workbook are longer than the allowed limit of 8192 characters. To avoid this llimitation, save the workbook in the Excel 2007 Binary Workbook format."

I have looked at all the individual cell formulas in the workbook and the largest is 282.

I then saved the workbook as a binary workbook format the following pop up happens:

"Defined names or formulas in this workbook may display different values when they are recalculated in an earlier version of excel if they:

Reference cells outside of the row and column limit of an earlier version of Excel
Include funstions that are not supported in an earlier version of Excel
Use Formula limits that are not supported in an earlier version of Excel (such as greater than 7 levels of nesting)

Do you want Excel to recalculate all formulas when this workbook is opened?"

    YES NO

Can someone help me with this, I have spent a long time in creating the workbook and not sure why the error is coming up??

Does the 8192 limitation refer to indivudal cell formulas or all the formulas together or nested formulas?

Thank you to any that can help

Are you using Excel 2003 as your profile indicates, or some other version?

It sounds like you're opening workbooks in compatibility mode -- true?

    Hi

I've checked and every time I pen a new excel document it does say compatability mode, however I have saved the workbook as a .xlsx. Closed it and then reopend the file, but this does not seem to work.

    See http://www.excelguru.ca/blog/2007/07...ility-checker/ and http://www.excelguru.ca/node/105

As a separate topic, I wonder if you really need formulas that large.
