change text date to month numbers?

dear all,

i am faceing a strange problem. i have a excel sheet in there. one coloum there is a period. value is 01-jan-2010 to 31-mar-2010, so how can convert this to three months?

Unnecessary wording

I am really sorry. but now i am uploading attachments. here. D coloum i need total months of Period. (coloum C).

example- C2 = "jan-2010" so D2 will be "01"
C8="jan-mar" so d8 will be "03"

ok...as u said..i changed the heading my my post now..so tell me how can i change text date to month numbers?

because you have 3 variants real date, date as feb-mar and date as say april it makes it uneccesarily complicated ! but this should do it.

examples i like to know number of months separate in other sheet. (D2="5", i like to see all these 5 months in spearate separate colum in sheet-2)
