    Question Circular Reference Error

    Hey Everyone,

I'm not sure if this is possible or not, but I am at a loss to make it work without creating a Circular Reference and thought I'd through the issue in here in hopes of a solution!

In a nut shell, Column A, the item code, has a drop down list (populated by the named range ProductList) and Column B, the description, also has a drop down list (populated by range ProductDescription).

What I am looking for is a formula for Column A and Column B that will basically say if one is populated then do a VLOOKUP on the other. For example, if you make a selection from the drop down in Column A then the look up in Column B triggers, but then if you go back and make a new selection from Column B then the Column A's look up will now trigger.

Like I said, I have no idea if this is possible, but it is a functionality I really want to be able to add into the sheet I am working.

Thanx a million, as always, for all your help!!

    Re: Circular Reference Error

You could do something a bit like this with circular references, but you'd be forever having to copy formulae over each other if you wanted to change them.

The more obvious approach (to me) is VBA - but you would probably encounter problems if you needed many users to allow VBA - if it's just for you this problem disappears...

    Happy with VBA?

I would be fine with using VBA for this

I've reposted this in the VBA section, so this thread can be deleted.

    Thanx!!
