VBA & Built-in function?

Hi,

I am pretty new to VBA in excel. I want to start learning it, howoever, i have doubt when to use the VBA and when just to use the build-in function that come with excel itself, and what are the advantage of doing the VBA?

Your advice will be pretty much appriciate.
