lock and protect all but certain cells

    Hi All

I would like to lock and hide all the formulas and most blank cells but leaving some cells open for input of data is there a way I can basically select all and or highlight the selected cells for input then invert selection then lock n hide then protect?? if so how

    Many thanks In Advance

    select all
    then format /cells/protection
    uncheck locked
then select range and/or individual cell that you want protected and do the same
but this time select locked /then protect sheet. you will have options what to protect but i dont know what they are in 2010

save it in compatibility mode first then apply the protection

Re: lock and protect all but certain cells

I have tried this method on my Macbook Pro using Excel 2008 and my entire sheet gets protected. Don't know if I should start a new thread but this one seems pretty close - "I am trying to lock only cells with formulas and have seen many posts with the steps that are supposed to accomplish this. (Format>Cells>Unlock - GoTo>Special>Select Formulas - Format>Cells>Locked - Tools>Protect Sheet) This works but protects my entire sheet. I just want to prevent other users from deleting formulas but free to enter data on the rest of the cells. I have a MacBook Pro using Excel 2008. Please help."
