Is this a homework assignment? If so, you're welcome to ask questions when you get stuck on a specific problem, but we won't do your homework for you.

    cheers

    Re: queuing system with priorities

Well, for a start, column B appears to be 4 minutes + (between 0 and 6 minutes), shouldn't it be 8+-2?

Moving along... should the first entry in column C be ~8 minutes past midnight, or another time?

bampoor, please stop quoting whole posts. It's just clutter and creates clean-up work for the moderators. Use the Quick Reply box or the "Post Reply" button, NOT the Quote button to reply. Thanks.

    Re: queuing system with priorities

    A valid point...
    Moving along...
If someone buys a queue-jump ticket wouldn't that affect the start time of anyone else behind them?
Does your model accomodate there ever being more than one person in the queue?

    Re: queuing system with priorities

if someone buys ticket it must affect the start time of anyone behind, the point is here how can i change it for example if customer 4 buys ticket, start time of customer 3 or maybe 2 must be change(it cant happen in this problem) so we must check how many customers are in the queue and then change?
so can i change k3 by writing formula in k5??

    Re: queuing system with priorities

I would suggest that as your other columnds rely on column D that the logic in column K ought to be incorporated into column D - just an idea.

    Re: queuing system with priorities

I agree (that does make it harder), but how can someone start if the person behind them has bought a queue-jump ticket? The start time must be affected by the queue...

To be honest, what I don't understand is the incredibly low statistical probability of a queue building up enough for anyone to buy a queue-jump ticket anyway - with one punter in the show, you'd need two waiting - one queuing whilst another arrived - before you could get a queue-jump (your logic is not quite right there) - if the queue is only one person, he's not going to buy a queue-jump ticket!

You've made a very good and logical start, keep going and upload your next example when you've had a chance ot do a bit more.
