Pivot table Sort by Row Labels

Hi

I need some urgent help please.

I have a Tabular pivot table and in the Row label I have the following

Account Name
Level
Account Code

I want to sort it by Account code so the lowest account number is at the top - I thought it would be as easy Data --> Sort --> Ascending however it doesn't seem to do anything do anything.

Can you please assist..

Click on the top right cell outside of the pivot table and drag it across to the top left cell within the pivot table. Click on filter and sort the Account row by decending.

That will not work for me as i want the row labels in that order..
Just want the data in Account code to be sorted..

Here's how you do it in the archaic version of Excel my company uses (2000) - might be a little different if you have 2007...

- Click inside the PivotTable and open up the PT Wizard on the toolbar/ribbon
- Click Layout
- Double-click whatever field you have under Rows
- Click advanced
- Under AutoSort options, select the field you want to sort by and ascending/descending
- Click OK 3 times, then finish

Not sure i follow - i am using excel 2010 and the layout wizard isn't there.

So my requirement is i would like to keep the same format however just to sort via account number in ascending order.
