    refreshable web query

I'm trying to link some web data to my worksheet but this doesn't seem to work using the standard paste refreshable queries.
The web page displays a calendar and based on the date chosen it then shows a set of data. I need to have the data in excel automatically refeshed, when the dates on the calendar web page are changed.
How could I do this? Would it even be possible to change the calendar date in excel and have the refreshed data?

One more query , the data that's pasted into the cells include figures & text. How do I link the figure only to a cell in another worksheet?

    Many thanks

Re: Need help with a refreshable web query

Sophie, I'm afraid you're over-estimating Excel's capabilities to link to web pages.

A web query will work on a static html page and you can refresh it and will receive the latest version if the html page has changed.

These days, though, many web pages are using javascript or flash elements for interactive displays based on user entries. The base URL does not change, but the display of the page does, via Flash or javascript. That is not something that Excel can recognise or update.

What do you mean by "figures"? Images?

How do I link the figure only to a cell in another worksheet?
I have not clue what you want to do. Please explain.

    Re: refreshable web query

    Thanks Teylyn for your help,

Sorry, I mean numbers by figures! I have a cell in my worksheet which shows 245 Gbytes (comes from a refreshable data) I would like to link this cell to another cell but only showing the number, in this case 245. Is this possible to do?
    Thanks

    Re: refreshable web query

What exactly is the source data? What are the variations? Post a sample with a representative spread of possible values.

    Re: refreshable web query

The source data is from my company's intranet, so unfortunately can't send a sample of the data.
If we take out the source, is there anyway to format a sell that includes number and text to number only?
In the above case, I have a cell with 245Gbyte, but would like to format it to 245 only so that all formulas related to it work.

    Re: refreshable web query

    sophienegre,

I can give you a formula to splice off the 245 from the Gbyte, but then you'll come back with another term like 66MB and after that you will want a solution for 12TB.

I did not ask for you to post the confidential source data. I asked for
a sample with a representative spread of possible values.
