Angry sort data by headers, auto sorts other headers, how?

Okay, perhaps my key phrases in google / ms help aren't working properly, but I figured the BIGGEST / UNIVERSAL demand for this task would be very common, but it's so hard to find.

So for ease of sake, let's say it's this

    Header Column (Row 1)
    Name Address State ZIP Phone
    John Doe 121 OR 88888 888-8888
    Jane Smith 253 CA 90210 555-5555
    Neo Anders 824 NY 111111 222-2222

If I sort by State, it should move CA to the top, along with all of Jane Smith's row data.... is this really hard to do on excel 2008? it seems like everyone on the PC has a straight answer for this.

    Either:
    1. Select one cell in the State column, then click the Sort-A to Z button; or
    2. Select the whole table, choose Data-Sort... from the menu, specify the column(s) and order(s) you want, then sort.
