    Overlapping ranges different rows

    Hello:

I'm new so I hope that this has not been posted. I have a spreadsheet that I use to track vacations. Dates are listed across the top, and in column A all the names of people. I am looking for a formula that will quickly help me find all the rows where vacation dates overlapp...i.e. for person one they have values in the cells B4:F4 indicating vacation. I want a formula that will identify overlap i.e. B15:F15. Ideally, when overlapps are found it will show the values in A column (i.e. show me the names of the people where there is overlapp).

If anyone could help me out it would be very much appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Alex

Hi and welcome to the board

To best describe or illustrate your problem you would be better off attaching a dummy workbook, the workbook should contain the same structure and some dummy data of the same type as the type you have in your real workbook - so, if a cell contains numbers & letters in this format abc-123 then that should be reflected in the dummy workbook.

If needed supply a before and after sheet in the workbook so the person helping you can see what you are trying to achieve.

Doing this will ensure you get the result you need!
