    Pasting XLS into webpage

IS there an html export format or something that would allow the retention of gridlines and color formatting or some facisimile thereof when I paste a file into a web page.

We could save the files as .pdfs or .jpgs if there is a way to do that.

We have about 150 relatively small .xls files that we are trying to make available in point and click fashion rather than the user having to download them to read them.

Here is a link to what we get when we just copy from the spreadsheet and paste it into a webpage.

As you will note, vertical lines would be essential. Horizontal lines would be useful. And in our original the Grand Total lines are colored as well as columns for the principle race to draw the eye to them.

So I'm pretty negotiable in that order of importance.

    thanks,

    Brian

I do not use a Mac but on Excel 2003 and 2007 for Windows there is an option to "Save As" html. This is almost certainly available on the Mac.

What this does in Windows is to generate an HTML file plus a folder with supporting documents. The file plus folder must be loaded to the web site.

The result does not look identical to an Excel screen but is more like what you would see if you printed the sheet. You will not see column or row headers or gridlines, but you do see all the formatting that was applied. So if you want to see gridlines, you have to set borders for the cells, but that is easy enough.

Here is an example of one such file I did, from a workbook with multiple worksheets. As you see, it is rendered as a tabbed web page faithful to the original.

Edit: BTW in case you're wondering it's little league baseball....
