I want to selective move data from one cell to the cell next to it, as in following example.
All data in the left column that starts with a hyphen should be moved to the column right to it.
Cars - Alfa Romeo
- Citroën
- Fiat
- Mercedes
Painters - Rembrandt van Rijn
- Pablo Picasso
- Andy Warhold
Select those cells, Hold down the CNTRL key for noncongruent areas, right click and INSERT>Move cells to the right. Is that what you are looking for?

substitute commas with semi-colons if your region settings requires

Thanx for your quick reply, but that is not exactly what I'm looking for. I forgot to tell that I need a macro to do so. The original sheet will contain thousands of rows and ONLY those cell where data starts with a hyphen should be moved to the column right to it.
Try this macro. It assumes your data is in column ADoes that work for you?
