Too much text in cell to display problem

I keep getting lines of ########### in certain cells with lots of text. I have formatted to cells to wrap and I have made them long enough to display the data but still I get ############# . It only shows the text when I double click on it but when I move the cursor off the cell it shows ######### again... so how do I fix this?
Also the text ... when I have double clicked on the cell is in the bottom portion of the cell even though I format it to align from the top of the cell..
HELP... I'm appreciate whatever suggestions.. I can't figure it out.

    I am using Excel 2008 Mac (2007 )

In the Excel Help, type "Excel specifications and limits". This will show the maximum number of characters your version will be able to display in a cell. Beyond the limit, you get ###.

Nothing comes up close to that when I type that in Help... This is on a Mac.

Re: Too much text in cell to display problem

As I understand it, the Excel 2008 for Mac limits are similar to Excel 2007

    The 2007 limits are:
    - Length of cell contents (text) -- 32,767 characters
    - Only 1,024 display in a cell; all 32,767 display in the formula bar.

This being a "limit", there's nothing you can do to fix it; sorry.

Format the cell as something OTHER than Text.
