Conditional formatting-what formatting can I do to make it shade accordingly?

    Hi,

I am looking to format cells based on a basis of over budget, under budget, and within 10% of budget.

I have a column of cells that are the budget for each customer, the adjacent column is the cost incurred. What I am wanting to do is shade each cell specific to each budget based on over budget, under budget, and within 10% of budget.

So column C holds budget value, column D holds cost value, what formatting can I do to make it shade accordingly?

I tried doing an If then statement but I don't think you can shade with that, maybe I'm wrong there.

Basically IF (D1>C1, shade red, shade blue) - Not sure how to do 3 conditions where it would include the within 10% of C1.

Any help will be great, thanks.

    Hi Kevin,

Sometimes it is best to have a sample workbook attached so we can get you the best and most accurate answer.

In conditional formatting you can use =D1>C1 as one condition with the color you desire and then add another condition for your next evaluation. and so on.

Here are a couple of resources which could possible help...

Another conditional formatting issue, this time with copy, paste special and format.

My formual is =A5+B5<B$1 and want to copy from B6 through to B20.
So I copy cell B5 and select B6 to B20, paste special and format.

Problem is only B6 turns out correct namely =A6+B6<B$1
All the other cells show exactly the same formatting as B6 whereas
    I need B7 to show =A7+B7<B$1

    Help please!!!

I've attached a sample sheet, I hope that helps show what I'm trying to do a little more.

    Thanks!

Tekboy - you can Paste Special Formulas after you Paste Special Formats.

Sledford - It doesn't work. When I paste special/formulas the cell number remains the same as the original being copied and doesn't progress with the rows (it is not constrained by $ either)
