Inerting Rows in Formatted Table in Excel 2007?

I'm trying to insert new row(s) in a formatted table. Under Cells-->Insert there is no option for inserting a new row. If i try to manually do so, an error pops up saying: "The operation is not allowed. The operation is attempting to shift cells in a table on your worksheet"
I also cannot right-click a row in the table to insert a new cell.
I'd appreciate some help with this! What am I doing wrong? I've never had this problem before.
